Over the last couple of months I have been meeting and photographing a great deal of beautiful women.
I've noticed that they all worry so much about how they will look in their photos and are happy to point out their flaws to me, as if in doing so will hopefully make them disappear and make themselves feel better.
Usually I don't notice these 'flaws' as I'm too busy admiring the entire woman. The total package. Not just her clothes but her charisma, energy and personality. A study recently said that woman focus on themselves as PARTS rather than as a WHOLE, whilst men tend to see the woman as a whole. They aren't too worried about the bits. They take us all in. This is the same whether you are a size 8 or a size 16.
We really are our worst enemies and in order to look and feel good about ourselves we need to actually stop this negative cycle that runs through our head daily.
I'm guilty of it as well, focusing on the things I hate and forgetting sometimes to take the whole me in and love the true individual that I am.
I told a friend, she needed to start saying to herself ' I love you' everyday. "Oh No, Liz, I couldn't possibly do that."
Why not? If you can't love yourself, no one else will.
As important as fashion and clothes are to make someone look good, it also needs to come with a healthy does of self love and self esteem.
Someone can walk into a room with a $2000 Alex Perry, but have slumped shoulders and low confidence and no-one will notice her. Walk in in a K-mart dress, confidence and sass and a huge smile on your face and you will have all eyes on you.
Use fashion as a tool to look fabulous but don't forget to give yourself permission to own that fabulousness.
Don't wait until the day when you are Perfect because that day will never come. We love you with all your flaws and imperfections because that is what makes you truly unique and gorgeous.
So go out there, be gorgeous and own it!!!
